"United we stand." I would imagine General Custer used that theory prior to the battle of The Little Big Horn! It's a good sounding theory, but so is the theory of evolution. The theory of unity and the theory of evolution share other common factors. Neither of them have been proven reliable, but they have both been sucessfully used to deceive masses of people.
Since the Garden of Eden til now, evil and deception have been the most prevalent forces behind shaping and directing the affairs of this world. Talk is cheap and our good intentions are usually worthless. It is only the results of our choices with which we must contend on a daily basis. Our hopes, wishes and idealist theories about the way things ought to be rarely coincide with the way things actually are.
Our interpersonal relationships, from the family unit all the way up to the international negotiating tables echo the sounds of humanity crying out for peace, security and unity. But, just stand back and watch, and you will see marriages breaking up, families fighting and dividing, business associates double crossing each other, friends becoming foes, good times and merriment turning into bloodshed, and our play grounds becoming battle grounds.
That same scenario also represents the larger ongoing pattern of international and global behavior between nations and blocs of nations as they too, seek the elusive compatibility formula that many believe will eventually usher in the new age of universal peace and harmony.
Deceived by this good sounding myth, we are rapidily heading for our own destruction. Greatly increased knowlege and super sophisticated technology, rather than acclerating our path to universal peace, is actually hastening our demise. We now have superior ways and means of lying, cheating, deceiving and destroying each other. Just stand back and watch the nations of the world as they mirror the reflections of us as individuals. You will see international treaties and pacts turning into mistrust and disputes; cooperation and alliances turning into rivalries and conspiracies; international trade and commerce turning into trickery and thefts; unilateral disarmament turning into the most rapid development and production of weapons of mass destruction in history; and the dreams for a global community, full of love and peace, turning into the reality of a world wide arena filled with hatred and wars.
Yes, my friends, we have become the most knowledgeable, advanced and technologically armed savages that have ever existed on this planet. While failing to seek out, or even confront the truth when it is presented to us, we have eagerly embraced and given honor to utopian ideologies because they appeal to our pride and selfishness more than reality does.
Think about this. Do we create the thoughts we think, or do we think thoughts that have already been created? Can we destroy our thoughts or are our thoughts destroying us? Why can't we stop it? Why are we driven by greed, lust, vengance and evil works of every kind? Will a "one world government" bring about a new united, well ordered and peaceful global society? Not hardly. Can anybody do anything to bring unity to the masses of diverse people within our nations and throughout the world? No, nobody of human origin can. Has it ever been attempted before? Yes. If you want to know how it turned out, read the accurate account in the book of Genesis about the Tower of Babel. This was mankind's first recorded attempt at a human controlled "new world order" and the consequences. We are now entering the final stages of the beginning (and end) of humanity's last attempt to create a "new world order". To see how it,ends, read the books of Joel, Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelation.
Even though it may be easier to continue to believe in the fantasy that human superiority is able to determine it's own destiny, the fact of the matter is that history has already been written and we are fulfilling it whether we want to or not or whether we believe it or not. As the world will continue to grow more chaotic and dangerous, we are left standing in the real garden of good and evil, and our individual destinies are not determined by which of these two forces we attempt to master, but rather by which force we choose as our master. This may very well be the only choice we'll ever make in which there is a certain outcome at the end of a long path of human history, which has been and still is cluttered with theoretical illusions of technological and political solutions, which continue to predict peace and unity, while actually leading us further into division and destruction.
Some call it "terminal madness of the end-times". What do you think it is?
